yA free-market democratic country growing rapidlyz
Parliamentary democracy has been rooted in India as the world's largest democratic state.Furthermore, India is politically stable and it has never experienced a coup d'etat in the past. India has attained an economic growth rate as high as 7% to 9% in recent years.,and stable economic growth is expected for the next five years. It is said that the potential for growth of India will exceed that of China, and India will have the largest population in the world.

yAn expanding huge consumer marketz
It is said that a little less than 30% of the total number of households (approximately 300 million people out of the total population) in India make up the middle-income group (with an annual income of 2,000 to 3,000 dollars) or higher-income group. It is expected that the number of people who make up the groups will amount to 550 million by 2010. The consumer market is expanding quickly. Considering the population of India (exceeding one billion) on a par with that of China and the prospective development of india, the appeal of India as a consumer market is great.

yAbundant human resourcesz
English-speaking labor force is abundant in India. Moreover, as many as 2,500,000 students including those specialized in IT engineering graduate from college every year. There are abundant worker-class human resources to be recruited.

yIndia as a country of youthz
The number of peple who are 25 years of age or below occupies 54% of the overall population. Unlike China, which will become an aging society as a result of China's policy of one child per family, great economic development for job creation is promised to India as a country of youth, because more than half the population of India is 20 years of age or below.

yDelhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project with a scale of 11 trillion yen came into operationz
Japan and India reached agreement on the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project with a scale of 11 trillion yen in December 2006. The project came into operation in 2008, with the construction of infrastructures to connect Delhi which is the capital of India, and Mumbai, India's main commercial city, along with plans on the creation of domestic demand-oriented bases. In the future, a number of enterprises will be established between Delhi and Mumbai, and the area will be a region of industrial integration.

yIndia is the No.1 promising overseas business partnerz
India has been actively accepting overseas investments. There were 475 Japanese affiliates as of February 2007. There was an increase of 158 companies in one year, and there is still much potential for companies to expand.
The amount of yen loans extended to India from Japan is larger than that extended to any other country. Business chances in India based on this fact are great.

yIndia's packaging industryz
There is an increasing demand for exterior and individual packaging of commericial products in India as a result of an expansion in consumption. Presently,India is rushing into an economic state that can be compared to Japan's high-growth period from the latter half of 1965. India is rapidly growing at the rate of 15% annually, the speed of which is twice as fast as the world's average growth. A growth rate as high as 20% to 25% is expected in the future. Japanese packaging-related enterprises are in the rear compered with overseas packaging-related enterprises positively participating in the Indian market and gaining profits, such as German, Italian, Korean, Chinese, and Taiwanese enterprises.

yIndia's environmental industryz
Due to the rapid economic development and urbanization of India with an increase in population and the deversification of Indian people's life styles, India is faced with an increase in wastes and difficulty in its disposal. The attainment of waste reduction, reuse, and recycling (3R's) serves as a pressing need. Furthermore, India has serious water and energy problems. Presently, the environmental management of India is greatly changing with the enactment of laws and improvements in Indian people's consciousness. There is a chance that the energy-saving technology, recycling technology, and enviroment conservation technology of Japan can contribute to lndia's development. Japan has been developing green engineering technology while solving environmental pollution in the past. It is a business chance as well as a mission of Japan's environmental industry to introduce the technology overseas, exercise the leadership of Japan's environmental industry, and establish a good cooperative relationship with India and other Asian countries.
